The Saddle Pals consists of Sue Silverman and Greg Rumpel, both are talented and well-known entertainers in the Calgary district. They have been working together for six years; seamlessly combining vocals with guitar and accordion. The duo is known for playing the finest in vintage country and western, Cajun and foot-stompin music. They have been regular performers at the Calgary Stampede, Rafter Six Ranch, Alberta Tourism events, rodeos, barbeques, corporate events, even entertaining the runners at the Burnco Marathon.
For the past 15 years, Sue Silverman’s versatility as a guitarist and vocalist have made her an active musician within Calgary and the surrounding areas. She has freelanced her talents with a variety of party and nightclub bands, theatre and show groups such as the popular vocal group “The Shirelles”, and for the Robert Duval / Brad Pitt Reception. Aside from being busy with her country themed band, the Saddle Pals, she leads her own party band called Affirmation and a popular children’s show called Tune-ah. Amid all of this exuberant display of energy and talents, Sue finds time for her other love, teaching guitar. With 18 years of experience in this field, she is well thought of by her loyal students and peers. You can also regularly catch Sue performing at some of Calgary’s popular wine bars.
In addition to performing with Sue in The Saddle Pals, Greg is an active freelance musician on both accordion and guitar. He has performed at festivals and special events across Canada with groups such as The Rodeo Riders, KlezMerovitz, Crystal Plamondon, Larry Lamour, DJ & The Whiz Bang Zowie Orchestra, Miss Molly and The Brabec Brothers Band. Some of these events have included The Calgary Folk Music Festival, The Arctic Winter Games and The Calgary International Children's Festival. Greg has also performed in two theatrical productions; Shakespeare In The Park and Theatre Junction.
Besides performing music and entertaining with The Saddle Pals, Greg is also a guitar instructor at The Conservatory at Mount Royal College. He has been on the faculty since 1998 teaching contemporary and jazz guitar. |
